The additional receiver for use with the HDMIUSBEXT set allows sending HDMI signals over an IP network to another monitor/TV (using an Ethernet switch). The receiver has the ability to transmit a USB signal to the sender in order to control the source of the HDMI signal.

The IP signal coming from the transmitter of the HDMIUSBEXT set may be applied to an Ethernet switch to split it among multiple receivers. The bit rate of the compressed signal at the output of the transmitter is about 15 Mbps (multicast transmission). The output signals can be properly decoded only by the dedicated KVMEXTENDER receivers - it cannot be done by network cards/adapters installed in PCs/laptops.

The set is perfect for connecting a remote HD source like DVR/NVR, PC, game console etc. to a HD-enabled TV/monitor/projector. It uses only one, comparatively thin cable, which makes it easy to hide it, e.g. when installing the TV/monitor on an LCD mount.
